Submission Criteria

We are currently seeking submissions for romance and crime fiction. To ensure your manuscript meets our standards, please adhere to the following criteria:

Genre-Specific Focus

• Romance Fiction: Your manuscript should weave a compelling romantic plot with well-developed characters and emotional depth. Whether it’s contemporary, historical, or fantasy romance, the core of the story must revolve around a meaningful romantic relationship.

• Crime Fiction: We’re looking for gripping crime stories that engage readers with intricate plots, well-crafted suspense, and intriguing characters. Submissions should offer fresh perspectives on crime and investigation.

Originality and Creativity

• Unique Voice: Your manuscript should stand out with an original narrative voice and a fresh approach to the genre.

• Innovative Plot: We value creativity in storytelling. Your plot should captivate and surprise readers while staying true to genre conventions.

Writing Quality

• Prose: The writing should be clear, engaging, and skillfully crafted. We seek manuscripts that exhibit strong narrative control and effective pacing.

• Character Development: Characters should be well-rounded, relatable, and contribute to the story’s emotional impact.

Manuscript Requirements

• Length: Please ensure your manuscript meets standard genre lengths (approximately 70,000 to 120,000 words for romance and crime fiction).

• Format: Submit your manuscript in a standard format, 1.5 spaced, with a 12-point font.

Professional Presentation

• Synopsis: Include a concise, compelling synopsis that outlines the main plot and key twists.

• Query Letter: Provide a professional query letter that introduces your manuscript, includes a brief author bio, and outlines why your book is a great fit for our publishing house.

Author Requirements

• Platform: The Author should already have started building a social media platform and proving they have a following and are gaining engagement.

• Marketing: The Author will be required to market the book alongside the Publishers to ensure maximum exposure.

How to Submit

To submit your manuscript, please follow these steps:

Prepare Your Submission Package: Include your manuscript, synopsis, and query letter.
Submit Online through our Publishing Agreement: Use our submission portal to upload your materials.
Review Process: Our team will review your submission and contact you within 6 weeks to let you know if your manuscript has been chosen.

Self-Publishing Opportunity

In addition to our traditional publishing division, The Book Chief also offers self-publishing services. If traditional publishing isn’t the right fit for you at this time, our self-publishing arm is available to help you bring your book to market with professional support.
